MiniMeters is a standalone application. The companion plugin - MiniMetersServer - enables sending audio into the standalone application from within your DAW.
There are many advantages to MiniMeters being a standalone app. First and foremost, being able to monitor your system audio can help you build a reference for how music and audio you listen to compares to your own work. Having a standalone app allows MiniMeters to remove the window border, automatically restore the window position at launch, and be persistent between DAW projects.
In the recommended configuration, MiniMeters should be used with a loopback device such as an audio interface that supports loopback, a program that sets up a software loopback, or with an audio output capture (on Windows, macOS 13 or later, or Linux).
