0.8.18 - Waveform Speed & Bug Fixes
Released: Apr 20, 2024
- This update is free for existing users.
New Features:
- Waveform: Speed is now selectable from the Settings page or by scrolling while hovering over the Waveform module.
- Audio Engine: On Windows, Inputs and Outputs can now be selected individually. Default Output Capture still remains an option.
Improvements:
- Windows: Fix hang when MiniMeters opens on a secondary monitor when using Nahimic (or similar SteelSeries) drivers with NVidia graphics cards. This appeared as a window saying "POSIX WinThreads for Windows is not responding." If you're still having issues please reach out! I am happy to help.
- Windows: Thanks to SDL2's recent patch you can now live-resize MiniMeters. Previously, MiniMeters would freeze until the mouse was dragged.
- Audio Engine: The "Trim" option in the Routing pane now follows the selected audio device rather than being a global setting.
- Peak / LUFS: Improved LUFS calculation performance.
- General: Improved performance when using popped out modules.
- Audio Engine: Improved performance of Channel Activity meters on some Ryzen systems.
Bug Fixes:
- macOS: Desktop Audio (Default Output Capture on macOS 14.2+) now receives accurate volume on macOS 14.2 and later by using the new "Core Audio Tap" feature added to Core Audio. This also opens the door to MiniMeters having closer feature parity with Windows and Linux.
- Waveform: Fixed issue where Waveform could disappear when using sample rates other than 44100Hz.
- UI: Fixed cases where having the "Spectrum" module in some positions would prevent resize handles from showing on other modules.
Other:
- Audio Engine: On macOS 14.2 and later "Desktop Audio" has been renamed to "Default Output Capture" to better represent the underlying implementation.
- General: The FPS Limit list now shows "Hz" after each FPS value.
- General: Added a VSync - Low CPU [Experimental] option to the FPS Limit pane. This new mode uses an algorithm that sleeps for a portion of the time where we wait for the next V-Blank to reduce CPU usage on Windows systems with NVidia graphics cards.
Thank you for your patience as I work on v1.0. In the meantime, if you have any bugs in the current versions and are willing to help me fix them, I am always available on Discord. - Joe
